Modern Rock

One of Brewer's first conquest's in music was a Power Trio, the band STOIC.
Stoic Biography
With enough pop to please, and enough rock to make you pump your fist, Stoic is a band rarely seen in today's landscape. Straight-forward and unpretentious, their songs entertain and stay with the listener long after they've been played. Stoic is a power-rock trio from Hot Springs, Arkansas, although it began, by a chance meeting, as a dynamic duo. Almost six years ago bassist Shannon Sabbatini met singer/guitarist Calvin Brewer at a jam session. "I didn't know anyone there," said Calvin, "but Shannon and I almost instantly had this chemistry that you just don't find very often." The two began to play cover songs in bars around their hometown. Calvin recalled, "We played everywhere we could, wrote a lot, paid some dues and became great friends." "Each band member is really versatile," said Shannon, when asked about their writing style. Calvin agreed, "We all put our two cents in when we work on a song, but we're pretty picky about it coming from the heart. If we don't feel it, it wasn't a good idea anyway." After some rehearsal time, the band recorded 11 songs for their first release. "Dog House Master" was released January, 2006, and has received airplay on Little Rock's 100.3 The Edge. Among the places Stoic has played are Vino’s Brewpub and Juanita’s Cantina Ballroom, both nationally recognized original music venues in Little Rock, Arkansas. In Hot Springs, the band has played at clubs such as Dad’s Place, the Stillwater Grill, Big Daddy’s, Hard Times, and Boogie’s, to name a handful. They’ve played numerous private parties and weddings, as well, including a Christmas Party for the Sheriff’s Department. As for the future.... "We want to write, record and play live for the rest of our lives," said Calvin. Shannon agreed, " We love performing for an audience and we hope our songs touch them as much as they touch us."
